A nozzle ring as presented is a ring with vanes. These rings can vary in diameter from small (20mm diameter) up to large sized parts (300mm diameter). The vanes a characterized by its tight tolerances on the blade, position, edges and surface finish.

Presented nozzle rings are used as turbochargers in cars and trucks.

How it’s made

These nozzle rings are made by a special designed machining strategy. All vanes are finished from rough milled parts within 4-5 minutes.

Advantage of using ECM

The position and the accuracy of the vanes is of highest importance. By using ECM the position of the vanes are fixed within the tooling design. The quality surface is very high as an electrochemical polishing step of a few milliseconds is applied as finishing within the same set up. The machining time is short within 4-5 minutes by ECM.
