Application
These type of parts with typical teeth can be used in gearboxes or as curvic coupling.
How it’s made
This part is made by centering a tool with inverse teeth and is machine in axial direction by machining all the teeth in one single and one axis movement. The alignment of these type of parts is very critical.
Advantage of using ECM
These parts can be machined by one single axis with high repeatability at high speed. Even very unique sets can be manufactured with a real perfect fit not achievable by any other metal machining techniques.
An additional option could be; using 1 production electrode to manufacture a series copy A. With each A copy a new part B could be manufactured resulting in a perfect set of A+B.
