About ECM Technologies
Establishment of an innovative consultancy and research company
It was at the end of the nineties that Hans Henk Wolters, at the time working as an engineer for a major electronics company, first became familiarized with today’s ECM technology. At first when using the ECM technique for personal care products and later on introducing and developing the technique for the aerospace division. During the same period the market showed a growing interest in this technique. His own ambitions, the market demand and the knowledge of this technique led him to establish ECM Technologies in the year of 2003 as an innovative electrochemical research and consultancy business.
ECM Technologies offers the following services:
- Support to companies in modernising existing ECM processes
- Creating an ECM concept for a customer-specific product
- Optimising processes through innovative research
Development since establishment
Since its inception, ECM Technologies has performed various research and developed processes for several metal companies and suppliers from different industries around the globe. These include the automotive industry, medical field, aerospace field, energy market, jewellery industry, mould industry and hygiene sector. The technique is however also suitable for various other metal products and parts in almost any industry.
The current ECM technique is highly suitable for products with a complex 3D geometry in steel and high alloys. ECM is also excellent for products where upper-layer deformations due to more conventional machining techniques are not accepted, as for example is the case with spark erosion. As of now numerous projects have been carried out developing successful innovative solutions where current conventional techniques were not able to offer a solution.
The ambitions of ECM Technologies
Within a few years ECM Technologies intends to grow into a European Electrochemical research centre, where companies can turn to for process and product development. The initial stages are already in place and further investments and expansions will continue over the coming years in the following areas:
Technology development and building of a material data base.
Through continuous development and research of metals and their alloys, ECM Technologies has developed a database for process parameters which are essential for process design and production processes.
Expansion of the research team.
Staff levels will increase to support the research team in order to maintain and further develop the knowledge of ECM on the highest levels.
Expansion of research machines and equipment
In order to take the interest and enquiries of the market into account, we will invest in the expansion of research machines and equipment. Such as the purchasing of (micro) ECM machines, measuring equipment and equipment for analysis.
